By combining trace amounts of Chromium (Cr) and Zirconium (Zr) with a high-purity copper matrix, this alloy achieves an extraordinary balance of high electrical conductivity, superior thermal conductivity, and exceptional mechanical strength at elevated temperatures.

The addition of Chromium (typically 0.5% to 1.2%) and Zirconium (typically 0.03% to 0.3%) triggers a precipitation hardening reaction during heat treatment. This process creates fine, uniformly distributed intermetallic precipitates within the copper matrix, which effectively block dislocation movement and significantly increase the material's yield strength and recrystallization temperature without compromising its electrical properties.

Unlike standard copper alloys that soften rapidly when exposed to temperatures above 300°C, Cucrzr C18150 retains its mechanical integrity and hardness up to 500°C. This makes it the premier material choice for high-stress, high-temperature applications such as resistance welding electrodes, continuous casting molds, and aerospace propulsion components.
