C11000 offers excellent electrical and thermal conductivity (100% IACS) but is highly ductile and difficult to machine. C14500 Tellurium Copper has trace amounts of tellurium, which acts as a chip breaker, improving machinability to 85% of free-cutting brass while retaining 93%-98% IACS conductivity.
Why is low oxygen content critical for vacuum electronics?
Oxygen-free copper (such as C10100 or OFT alloys) has less than 10 ppm oxygen. When standard copper is heated in the presence of hydrogen, the oxygen reacts to form water vapor, causing internal cracking (hydrogen embrittlement). Oxygen-free copper remains stable in high-temperature vacuum environments.
